Team Manny’s Hoops for Hope is a charity basketball event that will take place on August 19th at Camino Real Middle School.
Starting off the fun will be a free throw shooting contest! Following will be a slam dunk contest for men 18 and older. Daring Diamond Hip Hop Studio will perform a dance routine and then around 1:30 p.m. is the main event!
This basketball game isn’t like any other basketball game as the participants playing will be the Amputee Basketball Invigorated (ABI) and LCPD. ABI is a Christian basketball team made up of Mostly cancer survivors who travel the country playing charity games to raise funds for sick children. 100% of all funds raised go to the sick child. There will also be vendors, food trucks, a jumping balloon, a mechanical bull, a horse and wagon for rides, a fun filled family day! This will all go to help Manny and his family with medical bills not covered by insurance. Manny is a brave 8 yr old who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma last November. He has undergone 7 months of chemo so far and has about 5 to 6 more weeks to go. He has also undergone limb salvage surgery through the grafting of a cadaver bone. Manny is now learning to walk again while remaining non-weight bearing to his left leg. There is still a ways to go to recover from all these chemo treatments and surgery and the family is in need! Make it out to have some fun for a very good cause.
